SANTA MARIA TRANSFER STATION
Who We Are
-
-
SMTS was acquired along with Chicago Grade Landfill by Allos Environmental in January 2018.
-
SMTS was constructed in 2000 to provide services to the southern communities and companies of San Luis Obispo County.
-
The Santa Maria Transfer Station is a fully permitted 500-ton per day (maximum) facility that accepts non-hazardous solid waste
-
The facility serves the waste disposal needs of the Santa Maria Valley as well as Southern San Luis Obispo County.
-
Our customer base includes franchised refuse haulers offering curbside service to local municipalities, local contractors with self-hauled waste, roll-off construction/demolition haulers, agriculture and farm wastes, as well as the general public.
-
Waste is deposited by our customers onto a concrete floor, then reloaded by our staff into large trailers for transport to our landfill.
-
This facility floor sorts metals, wood and greenwaste utilizing a CAT 320CL Excavator. Metals are hauled to market while greenwaste and wood are shipped off-site for composting.
-
Only non-hazardous municipal solid wastes are accepted at the Santa Maria Transfer Station. This includes: residential, commercial, industrial, and self-hauled wastes.
-
No wastes designated, special, medical, or hazardous wastes will be accepted.
-
A Hazardous Waste Load Check Program is in place to enforce this policy.
